Better-than-the-Box Mac & Cheese

Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound macaroni
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 7 ounces sharp cheddar, grated
- 4 ounces American cheese, torn up into pieces
- 3 ounces Parmesan, grated
- 1/4 cup milk
- salt and pepper to taste
Method:
- Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and put back into the pot.
- Put the butter and all the cheeses in with the hot macaroni. Cover the pot for about five minutes, allowing the residual heat from the stove's burner to melt the cheeses a little.
- Add milk and seasonings, and stir to combine. If needed, fire up the stove again and cook the pasta on low heat until the sauce comes together.
